Aysa has worked in various areas in the community and university, supporting individuals and research projects. She is currently completing her Honours in Psychology at Curtin University.
Aysa first joined the Kids Research Institute as a volunteer working on a systematic review looking at refugee families’ experiences and perspectives of cultural safety in trauma-informed mental health settings. Alongside this project, she has recently begun working on the ARC Aboriginal Parenting Program. This project aims to design, implement, and evaluate a co-designed parenting program that is culturally safe, trauma-informed, and interrupts the transmission of intergenerational trauma.
Aysa’s research interests include trauma, grief, attachment, psychoeducation, cross-cultural, community, and consumer psychology. She hopes to work towards strengthening the wellbeing and representation of marginalised populations in psychology and research.
