Inter-rater reliability and agreement of the Bayley-4 in a multidisciplinary team

The Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development are widely used to assess early development, yet evidence for inter-rater reliability in multidisciplinary contexts remains limited. This study evaluated inter-rater reliability and agreement of the newest edition, Bayley-4, at age two years when administered by a multidisciplinary allied health team within a longitudinal cohort.

General Movement Assessment in infancy and later cognitive outcomes: A systematic review and meta-analysis

To evaluate whether the General Movement Assessment in infancy is associated with later cognitive outcomes from early childhood through adulthood.

A Multisite Randomized Controlled Trial of Hand Arm Bimanual Intensive Training Including Lower Extremity for Children with Bilateral Cerebral Palsy

To test the efficacy of Hand Arm Bimanual Intensive Therapy Including Lower Extremity (HABIT-ILE) to improve gross motor function, manual ability, goal performance, walking endurance, mobility, and self-care for children with bilateral cerebral palsy.

‘Feeling like you can't do anything because you don't know where to start’—Parents' Perspectives of Barriers and Facilitators to Accessing Early Detection for Children at Risk of CP

Early detection of cerebral palsy (CP) risk is possible from 12 weeks corrected gestational age (CGA) using standardised assessments; however, up to half of children at risk are not referred early, missing out on early intervention. We investigated the barriers and facilitators to accessing early intervention from the perspective of parents of children who did not receive services by 6 months CGA.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis: Early Irritability as a Transdiagnostic Neurodevelopmental Vulnerability to Later Mental Health Problems

Irritability is a transdiagnostic indicator of child and adolescent internalizing and externalizing problems that is measurable from early life. The objective of this systematic review was to determine the strength of the association between irritability measured from 0 to 5 years and later internalizing and externalizing problems, to identify mediators and moderators of these relationships, and to explore whether the strength of the association varied according to irritability operationalization.

Can RESPiratory hospital Admissions in children with cerebral palsy be reduced? A feasibility randomised Controlled Trial pilot study protocol (RESP-ACT)

The most common cause of morbidity and mortality in children with severe cerebral palsy (CP) is respiratory disease. BREATHE-CP (Better REspiratory and Airway Treatment and HEalth in Cerebral Palsy) is a multidisciplinary research team who have conducted research on the risk factors associated with CP respiratory disease, a systematic review on management and a Delphi study on the development of a consensus for the prevention and management of respiratory disease in CP.

How can we reach long-lasting inclusive participation for all? A vision for the future

In 2022, an international conference was held focusing on 'participation'. We shared current evidence, identified knowledge gaps and worked together to understand what new knowledge and community and practice changes were needed. This brief communication is a summary of the conference delegates' discussions.

Hand Involvement and Its Association with Burn Characteristics, Surgical Management, and Length of Stay in Paediatric Inpatients: A 10-Year Cross-Sectional Study from Western Australia

Hand burns are a key criterion for immediate referral to tertiary burn centres in Australia, New Zealand, and internationally, yet few studies have examined how paediatric burn epidemiology, surgical management, and length of stay differ according to the extent of hand involvement.
